Available: Studio Spaces in San Rafael

A great opportunity in San Rafael - join our arts community in time for our December Holiday Open Studios!

We (Artsboretum and I)  just moved into a new space! It's a bit of a full circle moment, as I first heard of these studios shortly after Michael LeValley had finished renovating the building in 2005. At that time, it was known as Smith Ranch Studios.

Anyway, back to now - I just moved into space #13 I'm one of those people who considers 13 to be a lucky number. After all, the Italian expression "fare tredici" (literally "make thirteen"} means to "hit the jackpot" - and I feel that I have done so by scoring this studio space in this building with these creative people. I had to wait a year for it, and I am excited and scared at the same time. It's now Mark Drive Studios and we are about to update the website and energize the space.

Are you looking for a quiet space to create? Join us! There are a few prime spots available.

It is a really special location - short drive off 101 - a beautiful zen garden greets the Outland Gallery, and the entire building is a beautiful quiet space, except when we produce events. Our walls are shared and each studio is open to the high ceiling. The building boasts multiple skylights, which flood the area with natural light.

The landlord is unapologetically eco-conscious, and as such does not allow major dust/residues or toxic chemicals inside the building. No kind either - I'm guessing because of the energy pull and/or dust from the clay. I'm going to be engaging in up cycling and creative reuse/landfill diversion, as I continue my memoir project.

We all cooperate  to provide a quiet, zen like space  - so if you want to play music, dance, zoom videos, or engage in loud office calls it is probably not the best choice for you.

However, if you are looking for a quiet, zen space, this IS the best place to be.
